BEHIND THE MUSIC
Classical Singers Co. is a family run business based in the beautiful market town of Midhurst in the heart of the Southdowns national park, West Sussex.
Tom, who began singing as a chorister at St.Paul's Cathedral and then went on to train at the Royal Northern College of Music, and Bethia, who trained at the Royal Welsh College and then did her masters at Trinity Laban, met whilst working as professional singers in, of all places, Kuwait. They were singing with a choral group on a weeks trip, culminating with performances of Verdi's Requiem. The week also included a remembrance day performance at the British Embassy and performances at private parties in Kuwait City.
On returning to the UK, as their romance blossomed so did their careers, performing around the UK with companies including English National Opera, Longborough festival, Opera up close, West Green House opera, performing as part of a classical trio on cruise ships and recording with the award winning vocal group VOCES8.
Having moved to Midhurst to bring up their family, just before the birth of eldest son Raphael, they decided that life on the road, and sometimes ship, was not conducive to family life and began establishing teaching practices in the local area. A move justified by their second son, Gabriel, coming along not too far behind!
Growing to over a hundred students a week between them, and their two boys getting closer to school and nursery age, they decided that the time was right to build on their businesses. Drawing on all that they have learnt as professional singers and teachers and also their extensive list of friends and contacts from within the professional music industry, seemed the obvious way to go. Having spent years being booked for weddings, gigs and concerts, they thought why not create a one stop shop for first class classical voices.
Classical Singers Co. is a young business built on old values and long established experience. Every live performance is special in it's uniqueness and we aim to treat every single event, wedding, party or celebration as if it were our own.
